Relais Villa Baldelli, a country house dating from 1600 that takes its name from the Cortonese family who, for many years, made it their summer residence.
A meticulous restoration has preserved its true character and fine original architectural elements, combining the elegance of the original building with all the comfort, services and facilities of a sound hotel tradition. The Relais offers an exceptional setting: the gentle Tuscan hills and an incomparable view of the town of Cortona silhouetted on the horizon as if protecting the Villa.
The grounds host an elegant swimming pool for relaxation, a spacious patio surrounded by majestic ancient oak trees, vineyards and olive groves, and a charming well in working order; inside, the Relais offers elegant and welcoming communal areas decorated with old prints and period paintings. Villa Baldelli is the perfect solution for anyone choosing this select accommodation for its location and the various opportunities the area offers: an unusual archaeological itinerary, stirring horseback riding through woodland, and the pleasure of personally witnessing the marvels of art.
The doors of the elegant three storey main house open into the communal areas, featuring stone fireplaces and original terracotta floors, typical of the local architecture. Here guests can relax and read, or chat as they sip a drink. The curtains and soft carpets that furnish the Hall echo the muted architectural tones, and elements from sixteenth century altars add a particularly original decorative touch.
The Hall leads to the lounge with its sofas and tables for relaxing. A stone staircase rises to the first floor where a number of the 15 rooms are located, furnished with valuable antique furniture belonging to the previous owners. The accommodation comprises 5 junior suites, 5 deluxe rooms, and 5 classic rooms.
Other rooms have been created in the adjacent annexe, each different in shape, dimensions and furnishings, but all decorated with valuable pieces of antique furniture and tastefully co-ordinated soft furnishings that add to their charm and atmosphere. Rooms of all types are equipped with satellite TV, minibar, safe-deposit box, Internet connection and large bathrooms featuring either a hydromassage bathtub or hydromassage shower.
Every room has a marvellous view of the Tuscan countryside; some have an independent entrance from the hotel grounds, others again on the second floor have romantic mansard ceilings. So do not be surprised if the night-time quiet is broken in the morning by the twittering of swallows…
